Overview

Plotline ("the App") is developed by JBGSoft. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use our audiovisual exploration application.

The short version: Plotline does not collect any personal data. The app fetches film information from TMDB and syncs your favorites privately through iCloud. We have no access to your data.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information.

Plotline is designed with privacy as a core principle:

  • No personal information is collected
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No crash reporting to external services
  • No advertising or ad tracking
  • No account creation required

How Data Is Used

Plotline interacts with external services in limited, transparent ways:

TMDB API

  • Film and series metadata (titles, posters, ratings)
  • Search queries sent to TMDB servers
  • No personal information is included in API requests

iCloud (CloudKit)

  • Favorites and watchlist data
  • Your viewing preferences
  • Synced privately via your Apple ID — we never access this data

On-Device Storage

  • Cached film data for offline use
  • App preferences and settings
  • Search history (stored locally only)

No data from these sources is shared with third parties or used for advertising.

Third-Party Services

TMDB (The Movie Database)

  • Plotline uses the TMDB API to fetch film and series information
  • API requests contain search queries and content IDs only
  • No personal or device information is sent to TMDB
  • TMDB's own privacy policy applies to their service: tmdb.org/privacy-policy

Apple iCloud (CloudKit)

  • Your favorites and watchlists sync via your personal iCloud account
  • This data is encrypted and accessible only to you
  • JBGSoft has no access to your iCloud data
  • Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties. The only network requests Plotline makes are to the TMDB API (for content information) and Apple's iCloud (for syncing your personal data across your devices).

Children's Privacy

Plotline does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for all ages.

Data Security

Since no personal data is collected or stored on our servers, there is no risk of data breach from our side. iCloud data is protected by Apple's encryption. Locally stored data uses iOS standard secure storage.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
